Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) – A document required by federal law and NPS policy to evaluate the potential consequences of a proposed action General Management Plan (GMP) – A long-range comprehensive policy plan developed by the National Park Service for its parks Interpretive Themes -- Briefly stated ideas about the meaning of a park, which can be communicated to visitors to enhance their understanding and appreciation of the place Notice of Intent (NOI) – An announcement in the Federal Register that an agency (NPS) intends to take an action or start a process in which the public is invited to participate.
